So it seems like I am off to a bad start when it comes to some of my goals, I gained two pounds and did not bother going to the gym due to how cold it was and my laziness due to the cold weather.
On the other hand, I have finished ONE book so far and I have seen two movies. So those goals are moving along nicely.
I finished Insurgent, the second book in the Divergent series and I was quite pleased with it, even though the beginning was a bit slow. I was so distraught by the ending that I wanted to immediately run home so I could begin Allegiant.
Instead I went and saw Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones with my dad. Now I went into this film with very low expectations. The fourth film was so bad that when I first went to watch it, I couldn't finish it. I made myself watch it over the weekend, because I knew I would be see The Marked Ones this week.
I was pleasantly surprised by this film. It was really good. Right away you are pulled into the lives of the characters and they are so personable. They felt like real people. This made the conflict they had to go through feel very real. This film is definitely NOT a stand alone and must be seen after the first four films. Yes, even the terrible fourth film, which actually made a bit more sense after seeing this one. The first film and the third film are very important to this one, so if you want to understand certain things, those two are a MUST before you see this one.
The ending of this movie blew my mind. It made the mythology and the story that has been going along in all of these movies come full circle but still left me with so many questions. I read that the filmmakers are planning the release of Paranormal Activity 5, later this year, which makes me believe that The Marked Ones was sort of an interlude to the central story which revolves around Katie, the woman from the first film.
I give The Marked Ones an 8 out of 10. It was worth seeing, but I think you could wait until it comes out on DVD and just marathon them all, I think I may do that.
Now the other movie I saw was Frozen. The new Disney film. I absolutely loved it. The characters and the the music, it was amazing. It was nice to see a movie where the main theme wasn't true love between a prince and and princess, but that it was love between two sisters. It was a very touching movie and I highly recommend it! 10 out of 10.
So other than finishing a book, seeing two movies and not exercising, I spent a lot of time in my house, playing The Old Republic and watching TV with Preston. It is nice having days off and nothing to do. It was also freezing. I believe that it got to be 8 degrees here in Northern Virginia and I am NOT a fan of being cold.
It didn't help that a few days before we were supposed to have temperatures down in the single digits that someone decided to hit my driver's side mirror and completely ruin it.
I love my car, I was devastated when this happened because: A) I had no idea how much it was going to cost and B) I couldn't drive it, which meant I had to find rides to work.
Thankfully I was told it was quite easy to fix a mirror, so I found a replacement on Amazon for about $50 and got cheap one day shipping through Amazon Prime.
As soon as the mirror came in the mail, I bundled up and went outside to replace it myself. Part of me was excited to be able to do something like this on my own.
I educated myself with a youtube video, grabbed my dad's tool box and headed out the door.
It was VERY easy to do, I only needed to call my dad to help me hold the new mirror while I put in the screws. I was very pleased with myself.
Now I was a little upset that I had to buy a mirror that was a different color than my car, but it grew on me, I like how it is mismatched. :)
It was very stressful having to deal with this, but in the end, I only spent $50 and I got some experience fixing something on my own, it felt really good.
Well I think I have covered everything for this week. Back to work tomorrow and the next day. Hopefully I'll have more exciting things to post about next week.
