Now on to an update! I started classes this week, but I was only able to attend one of them. Classes were canceled on Tuesday due to a really bad snow storm. That wasn't really anything to worry about since my professor had already canceled class two days before.
The class I was able to attend was my Teaching Young Adult Literature in Multicultural Settings, it was so much fun! We are going to be learning different techniques to get our future students reading books and enjoying the process. Our first assignment was to create a "wonder notebook" which is going to be the writing space that we use to write down our thoughts on our class readings as well as writing down our Reader's Autobiography, which I am quite excited to write! I will probably post it here once I get it finished.
Other than the wonder notebooks, we also discussed Literature Circles. We will be doing 7 of them this semester, each of them revolving around a specific kind of YA book. The first two books we are doing are "Out of the Dust" by Karen Hesse and "Staying Fat for Sarah Byrnes" by Chris Crutcher. I haven't read either of these, but they sound pretty good. I'll be sure to say whether or not they are worth reading once I finish them.
I'm really looking forward to this class and my other two classes which I will attend not next week but the week after.
My next update will be all about Disney!
Until then...

You're going to LOVE Disney World. It's my personal happy place, and I'd go there all the time if I could afford it. When you're in Magic Kingdom make sure you go see Mickey's Philharmagic. It's really fun, air conditioned, and you can sit down. You'll soon see the appeal of anything that involves sitting.
ReplyDeleteI'll keep that in mind and let my cousin know! :D
